Dr. Karalynne Blochberger joined us here at PROVOKE Health in Tampa in June of 2023 where she currently serves as Medical Director of our functional medicine and integrative healthcare practice.

Ask her and Dr. Blochberger gladly tell you that her decision to work alongside our founder, Dr. Matthew Lewis, was pragmatic: She wanted to help people figure out the “why” behind their symptoms in order to determine the “how” of their return to optimal health, quality of life, resiliency and confidence.

And that’s pretty much the philosophy behind Functional Medicine and Integrative Healthcare — especially as provided by the doctors and staff here at PROVOKE Health.

Born in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, where she spent her first decade of life, she and her family moved to Holland, Mich., where she completed her undergraduate studies at Hope College, graduating in 2012 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in both chemistry and Spanish. In 2017, Dr. Blochberger was awarded her Medical Degree from the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University in East Lansing.

In other positions, Dr. Blochberger has worked as a physician at Access Primary Care in Orlando, and Advent Health Primary Care Plus, also in Orlando. She is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

We asked this busy physician — who is known as “Doctor B” by her co-workers and patients — some personal questions, to which she was willing to respond. Get to know Dr. Blochberger, in her own words…

PROVOKE HEALTH: In your own words, please share what drew you to work for PROVOKE Health?

Dr. Blochberger: Once I discovered the area of Functional and Integrative Medicine, I knew it was for me and fit the reason I went into medicine to begin with. I believe the human body was brilliantly created and can heal itself when we provide the right environment and use natural therapies to restore function. I have seen the profound impact of functional medicine in my own life and the lives of those I love. When I met Dr. Lewis and heard about the work he was doing related to thyroid disorders, hormone imbalance, peptide therapy, mold toxicity, etc., I immediately wanted to be a part of this growing practice.

PROVOKE HEALTH: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Dr. Blochberger: I’ve delivered more than 100 babies, including my own in the backseat of my car. His name is Carson.

PROVOKE HEALTH: What is your favorite quote of all time and who was the author of those words?

Dr. Blochberger: I love good quotes so it is very hard to pick a favorite but one of my favorites is, “One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.” ~ Andre Gide

PROVOKE HEALTH: What do you and your family do in your free time?

Dr. Blochberger: I am married and have two boys, ages 4 and 3, and a third child on the way, due in late-October. I love spending time with my husband and boys, traveling to visit extended family and enjoying the change of scenery. We also like to hang out with our church community.
